BSNL halves unlimited calls rental because of Reliance Jio

State-run telecom operator BSNL on Tuesday halved the monthly rental for unlimited calling from landline to any network on Sundays and night hours to Rs 49 from Rs 99.

'In order to attract new customers to experience wireline services, BSNL launched a very cost effective and affordable promotional landline voice plan 'Experience LL 49', BSNL said in a statement.

Under this plan, fixed monthly charges of Rs 49 is being charged for first six months and after that, the customer shall be charged as per the general plan of the respective area. BSNL customers can make unlimited calls to any network every Sunday and during night hours (9 pm to 7 am). BSNL is the only operator which is offering such a low cost landline voice plan in the country, said N K Gupta, Director (CFA), BSNL Board.

The company on Friday also slashed the 3G mobile Internet rates by about three-fourths, bringing down the cost of per GB data to as low as Rs 36 under a special pack. Under Rs 291 plan, a customer will get four times more data at 8GB with a validity of 28 days against 2GB earlier. The Rs 78 plan will offer double data at 2GB.
With these offers BSNL is now offering data at the rate of Rs 36 per GB which is one of the lowest in the Industry," BSNL said.
Reliance Jio was previously offering free 4G service till March 31, 2017, under which its all mobile customers are getting 1 GB of 4G mobile broadband everyday and after consumption of 1GB, the speed gets reduced. Other private operators have brought down the cost of per GB data to as low as Rs 50. Reliance Jio has evolved into a pool of over 72 million subscribers in four months. The launch offer, which read cheap data services and free calls, will now be extended till 30 June 2017, prior to its previous announcement of March 31.
